Dave Haslam

Dave Haslam is a Manchester-based writer, DJ, broadcaster who made his name in the 1980s DJing at the Hacienda club in Manchester and writing in publications including ‘NME’ and ‘The Face’. Subsequently, his journalism has appeared in ‘The Guardian’, ‘The New Statesman’ and the ‘London Review of Books’. He’s contributed to TV and radio shows, including BBC2 ‘Newsnight’, Radio 4 ‘Front Row’, and ARTE and Canal + in France. His full length books include a cultural biography of Manchester, and an alternative history of the 1970s. He’s currently engaged in an eight volume small format book project, which has included books on subjects including Keith Haring, Courtney Love, and the Angry Brigade. His small format book ‘My Second Home: Sylvia Plath in Paris, 1956’ was published in October 2020 and described in one review as “Delicately balanced between light and dark and inspiringly researched”.
