Digital Poetry Workshop with Polly Atkin & Hannah Hodgson
‘My body is the only home I’ll ever have’: a workshop on poetry and disability with Hannah Hodgson and Polly Atkin
In this workshop Hannah and Polly will take turns to lead you through exercises that explore the body and mind through the lens of disability poetics, looking at different ways to write about living with illness and death, and reclaiming yourself through writing. Drawing on the work of some of our own favourite disabled and chronically ill poets, this workshop will discuss poetry as a way to store memory, to travel without moving, and to recentre your own narrative. Exercises will include approaches to writing about personal medical history, about trauma, and disabled joy.
Suitable for writers of all levels.
