Jo Clement

She/Her/They/Them

Jo Clement is a writer, editor, and educator. She holds a practice-led PhD in Creative Writing from Newcastle University and was awarded an inaugural AHRC Northern Bridge scholarship. Jo is currently a Lecturer in Creative Writing at Northumbria University (Leverhulme 2021-2022). In 2012 she received a Northern Writers’ Award (New Writing North) selected by Paul Farley. Her poems and stories have appeared on BBC Radio 4’s Poetry Please and Enchanted Isle, BBC Radio 3’s Northern Drift and have been placed in competitions such as the Bridport and Troubador. Jo is the Managing Editor and Creative Director of Butcher’s Dog poetry magazine and in 2021 she edited Wagtail: The Roma Women’s Poetry Anthology, with support from ERIAC. Her first pamphlet Moveable Type (New Writing North, 2020) was published with support from Arts Council England. Her first book-length collection of poems, Outlandish, is published by Bloodaxe in May 2022.
