Sally Baker works for The Reader organisation and teaches poetry in adult education. She likes growing flowers, especially tulips, and collects ships in bottles. Her poems have appeared in various poetry magazines and anthologies, and a pamphlet ‘The Sea and The Forest’ was published by The Poetry Business a long time ago. One day she might have enough poems for a collection. She has an MA in Poetry Writing and is currently studying for a PhD in Place Writing Studies at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Sylvia Plath’s Flowers – Poetry Workshop
Sylvia Plath wrote about flowers, gardens and the natural world in some of her poems, most famously ‘Tulips’. In this workshop, we will look at some of these botanical references, discussing style, form and language, in order to inspire new writing.
There will be close readings of poems by Plath, followed by discussion and writing exercises to draft a new poem or two.
